27-year-old Amy Winehouse was found dead at her North London home on Saturday, her funeral service took place on Tuesday where her family gave tributes to the talented yet troubled singer.
Her family believe giving up alcohol for three weeks was a lethal shock that her tiny body couldn’t handle, however witnesses have said they spotted Amy drinking at the iTunes festival at the Roundhouse in Camden on the 20th July, though her father Mitch dismissed these reports in his eulogy.
Revealing more details of the dad’s tribute, a family source said:
He wanted everyone to know that he, her boyfriend, and her manager believed it was actually the complete opposite. He said doctors had told Amy to gradually reduce her intake of alcohol and to avoid binging at all costs. Amy told him she couldn’t do that. It was all or nothing and she gave up completely. Mitch said the shock of giving up, after everything she had been through over a bad few years, was just too much for her to take.
The cause of Amy’s death will remain unknown for weeks until toxicology test results come through. Her mother Janis and boyfriend Reg Traviss saw Amy the day before she died and were certain she had not been drinking. She was also given a clean bill of health the same day by a doctor.
However a witness at the iTunes festival was sure she was drinking saying,
She downed gallons of gin and Red Bull and drank the bar dry…Amy was behaving really erratically but that was nothing out of the ordinary for her.
Amy’s family and close friends continued to mourn her last night at a Jewish shiva gathering in North London.
