The death of 14-year-old Leroy James, who was stabbed in Enfield may have been caused by a BlackBerry message.

Leroy was with six friends in Ponders End Recreation Ground when he got into an argument with another youth who pulled out a knife and stabbed him, fatally wounding him. The attack happened less than 200 yards from Ponders End police station which has been closed as part of the Met budget cuts.

His father Leroy Snr, says his son received text messages telling him to come to the park, but this evidence has still not revealed a reason as to why Leroy was killed. Leroy’s friends who were with him at the time are allegedly refusing to cooperate with police.

An uncle of Leroy said
Surely it can’t be snitching if you tell what happened when your friend’s killed. People need to say what they saw.
Two boys, aged 14 and 15, were arrested last night on suspicion of the murder.
