Danny Preddie, Damilola Taylor’s Killer, enjoyed a beer in the park to toast his early release from prison. In 2006 the 23-year-old was sentenced to eight years in prison for the brutal murder of schoolboy Damilola Taylor.
Nigerian-born Damilola was attacked by Danny Preddie and his brother Ricky, then aged 12 and 13, on his way home from school in November 2000. The 10-year-old was left to bleed to death from a stab wound to his thigh in Peckham, south-east London.
Preddie is living in a bail hostel in west London and is allowed out from morning until 11pm. The ex-gang member gets a TV in his own double room at the hostel and access to a games console. Preddie has been banned from visiting the area where Damilola died or associating with old gang mates.
Many people have bashed the judicial system which sees murderers walk the street. Gary Trowsdale, head of the trust set up in Damilola’s name, told the Sun
As long as Danny is remorseful, the system has deemed he can be released
