Jessie J will be appearing as one of four judges on the BBC’s new talent show The Voice UK. The singer confirmed her new role on Radio 1’s Breakfast Show with Chris Moyles. The show has been dubbed the X Factor rival show which is bound to stir up some comparisons between Jessie J and Tulisa.

The Price Tag singer went on to say that the four judges will also act as coaches to the contestants, after choosing who will get through by auditioning them ‘blind’. The blind audition format is a new concept and will mean that the judges won’t see what the contestants look like, basing the competition solely on their vocal ability. Hopefully this will help breed actual talent as opposed to singers that sell due to their sex appeal as opposed to their voice a la Rihanna style.

Jessie thinks it is a great idea, saying

I do think sometimes that a lot of people don’t audition for these shows because… they don’t feel they look like a popstar. I can’t wait, I’m so excited about it.

So far, no other judges have been confirmed, although rumours have suggested Lenny Kravitz, Charlotte Church and Cheryl Cole (please no) are possibilities.

What do you guys think of the show and Jessie J as a judge? Good idea?
