Sunderland footballer Titus Bramble has been suspended by his club over allegations of a sex assault and possession of drugs.

The 30-year-old defender allegedly sexually assaulted a lady in a taxi. Bramble was held by the police after the cab driver became concerned by the footballer’s behaviour towards his companion in the back with him.

Instead of driving Bramble home, the taxi driver took the pair straight to a police station and alerted officers. Bramble was then arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and possession of a Class A drug.

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has clearly had enough, this isn’t the first time sexual assault allegations have come up. Bramble was arrested 13 months ago at the same time his brother Tesfaye, 31, was held on suspicion of rape.Bramble was not charged but his brother was convicted and given 4½ years.

The football world has been rocked by the high number of rape and sexual assault allegations this year. In March six footballers were arrested for raping two 12-year-old girls who had lied about their age. The footballers were later freed as the court ruled their victims ‘wanted sex’.
