If he’s not in the news for being a womaniser, Ashley Cole can still find a way to make the headlines. This time the Chelsea star has been caught on CCTV apparently throwing a punch at a club goer back in August.
The 25-year-old Arsenal fan involved in the brawl has finally come forward as CCTV footage showing images from the night have only just been found.
Ashley had been out at London nightclub 141 and got caught up in a heated argument when the victim shouted ‘Cashley’ at him. The 30-year-old footballer had been given the nickname ‘Cashley’ after he transferred from Arsenal to Chelsea, their rival team, because Arsenal were only offering him a measly £50, 000 a week to live on.
The comment apparently pissed Ashley off so much that he asked his driver to stop the car so he could get out and confront him.
The Arsenal fan,who is refusing to be identified for fear of reprisals, told The Daily Star Sunday:
I said one word and then it started. He came straight towards me. I said, ‘Listen man, listen man I was only joking’. I told him I was an Arsenal fan. I said that two or three times. I was trying to calm the situation down. He kept repeating, ‘Do you know who the f**k I am? Do you know who the f**k I am?’
Oh dear. We didn’t think celebrities used that line anymore.
The victim said he had felt ‘threatened’ by the Chelsea left back, but hadn’t realised until seeing the new CCTV footage that Ashley had attempted to hit him.
The fact of the matter is I called him something – something I think is a cheeky comment, it was not malicious. I apologised to him. For him to still, after that, try and cause physical damage is ridiculous.
Police representatives have said that they are unlikely to investigate the case further and the club goer said he will not be pressing charges as long as Ashley apologises.
We have a feeling he might be waiting a while for that apology.
