MTV have announced the first two nominations for the Hip Hop/Grime category in their Brand New for 2012 competition.
South London seven-piece outfit Clement Marfo & The Frontline and Angel were the first names to be announced as nominees.
Clement Marfo & The Frontline have slowly begun to receive recognition for their brilliant shows and live performances and they already featured Ghetts on their first single Overtime. Success in 2012 is almost set in stone for the group. In reaction to their nomination the band said
Thoroughly overwhelmed by this news! This year has been a positive start and we are honestly privileged to be acknowledged by MTV for doing what it is we love to do. 2012 is going to be a flourishing year for British music.
Angel who has recently been signed is winning over many ears with his vocal talents and rap skills. He has already worked with Sneakbo, Maxsta and Giggs, and has written songs for Roll Deep, Pixie Lott and Jason Derulo. We expect a lot from him in 2012.
Remaining nominee’s will be announced at London’s Koko on 1 December where both nominees will join Wretch 32 and a host of other stars.
