Two teenagers have been arrested over racially abusing Newcastle striker Sammy Ameobi on Twitter. The incident happened on 30 October when the 19-year-old tweeted his followers a picture of a pair of black football boots.
He then retweeted a tweet that he received minutes later to which one of the boys referred to him as a nigger.
The teenagers in question were arrested on Wednesday on the suspicion of malicious communication offences and their Twitter accounts have been deleted.
This just comes a week after claims that John Terry racially abused QPR’s Anton Ferdinand and three weeks after the racial abuse that Manchester United defender Patrice Evra received from Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
Which leaves us asking the question, will racism in football ever end? What more do you think the FA be doing to tackle the ongoing issue? Share your thoughts.
