Shingai Shoniwa of the Noisettes turned out in her usual fabulous style to support the launch of New African Fashion in London on Monday night.
The new 240 page coffee table book by Arise Magazine editor-in-chief Helen Jennings gives a brief history of African fashion, beauty and style and highlights its influence on global trends today. Helen, pictured above with Shingai, said
I’ve been overwhelmed by the positive response to New African Fashion. This is the first coffee table book to celebrate the talented designers, models and image makers who are shaping fashion’s new frontier and putting African style on the map. I’m grateful to everyone who has contributed to the book’s success.
The launch was also attended by other famous faces including global Afrobeats star 2Face. But it was Shingai Shoniwa who stole the night and looked flawless in her beautiful African outfit carefully selected for the event. Shingai said
It feels beautiful to be part of the African renaissance that’s occurring in all areas especially in the arts, music and fashion. Helen’s book is a definite sign that we have arrived.
