After years of hard work, grime artist Dot Rotten has been nominated for the BBC Sound of 2012 award. The prestigious award aims to highlight the most promising up and coming artists for the year ahead. Those on the list were chosen by 184 UK-based ‘tastemakers’, who each named their favourite three new artists.
Dot Rotten’s competitors include Frank Ocean, UK girl group Stooshe and LA born producer Skrillex. The top five will be ranked and revealed in reverse order in the week commencing 3 January 2012, with one act named each day until the winner is unveiled on 7 January.
Jessie J topped the Sound of 2011 list and her album Who You Are has gone on to be the biggest-selling debut album of the year in the UK, so if Dot Rotten is as lucky as the Price Tag singer, we can expect him to be performing at sold out concerts next year!
