An 18-year-old man was fatally stabbed near Bond Street Tube station on Oxford Street as thousands of shoppers enjoyed the Boxing Day sales.
The murder happened inside the Foot Locker store, where witnesses said the victim was involved in a clash with another group of young men.
The victim, believed to be a Somali man named Seydou Diarrassouba, known to friends as “Nutz”, from South London, staggered out of the store ending up at the junction between Oxford Street and Stratford Place. He was treated at this spot by the London Ambulance Service but was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics.
It is reported that specialist armed police have made ten arrests in relation to the murder.
Witnesses at the scene of the stabbing said a group of young men began arguing over a box of trainers before the victim was stabbed in the chest. It is believed the group were on a shoplifting spree and were arguing over who stole what.
A witness said the killing may be linked to an attack last week, in which a 22-year-old man was shot twice in the chest.
