Ricky Preddie was jailed in 2006 for eight years following his involvement in the murder of schoolboy Damilola Taylor and much to the disappointment of the Taylor family he has allegedly been released, for the second time, from Pentonville prison.

Preddie was sent back to jail after breaching the terms of his September 2010 release, the 24-year-old was seen associating with gang members in south London and was sent back to jail last March.

Damilola, was on his way home when he was stabbed in the thigh with a broken beer bottle in Peckham in 2000. Both Preddie and his brother Danny were arrested.

In December last year, Damilola’s father, Richard Taylor slammed the decision to give an OBE to a cousin of the killers, Chris Preddie and Ricky’s release must come as a slap in the face.

Gary Trowsdale, managing director of the Damilola Taylor Trust, said:

We hope that this time Ricky Preddie can keep himself out of trouble and the Probation Service can deliver the support he requires to do so. There is, of course, absolutely zero evidence that he has been reformed and, like his brother, he has never shown remorse. On this basis, as with every other victims organisation in the country, we do not understand why he was released in the first place. What can we do, though? The system is the system, and the system is flawed.
