Former UBS trader Kweku Adoboli, who was accused of causing Britain’s largest unauthorised trading loss, pleaded not guilty at a hearing in London on Monday. The 31-year-old banker from Tower Hamlets, east London denied two counts of fraud and false accounting.
The Ghanaian born banker was arrested in September last year when he was accused of dishonestly using his position to try to make a personal gain. Prosecutors allege that the Nottingham University graduate gambled away the cash whilst buying and selling exchange traded funds. Whoops!
The trial has been set for Monday 3 September.
