Sunderland footballer Titus Bramble is facing his third sexual assault charge after he allegedly attacked two women on a night out in Teesside last September. Bramble was told at Teesside Magistrates’ Court that an additional sexual assault charge relating to one of the existing complainants was to be added.

The footballer from Wynyward, Teesside denied all three counts of sexual assault. His lawyer Philip Smith said in a statement after Bramble’s hearing at court yesterday that the charges were ‘based on poor quality and contradictory evidence’ and would be ‘fervently denied’. He added,

Titus very much looks forward to the opportunity to clear his name at his trial in the crown court.

The case was committed to the Crown Court and a trial will take place on a date yet to be set.
