Adam Deacon has won the Orange Rising Star BAFTA at this year’s ceremony.
The 28-year-old actor from Hackney has starred in films such as Kidulthood, Shank and Anuvahood and is a firm favourite among urban celebrities, being dubbed “The new face of youth cinema” by Time Out Magazine.
Adam beat nominees Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Chris O’Dowd and Eddie Redmayne and was very humbled and grateful in his speech:
This is mad, this is crazy. I can’t believe I’m in the same place as people like Brad Pitt. This is surreal. Thank you to everyone out there. Thank you to BAFTA for this, because for me it means acceptance, so it’s not just a win for me; it’s a win for the underdog and everybody out there with a dream to better themselves.
Well done Adam, we knew you could do it! And we think now is the perfect time to get our popcorn and chairs out for Noel Clarke’s reaction.
