Former Big Brother winner Brian Belo is to sue the Makers of ITV2 reality show The Only Way is Essex for allegedly stealing his  idea.

Now Brian may not be the sharpest tool in the box but he is claiming that the format of The Only Way is Essex which follows a group of rich, young wannabes in Brentwood Essex was his brain-child and has filed his case to the High Court. The Financial times reported that his case:

alleges breach of copyright and breach of confidence, and claims they have reproduced or adapted part of a format that he created with two companies, Sassy Films and Massive TV, for a show called Totally Essex .

It’s said that the 25-year-old from Basildon initially started legal proceedings last year but no one took him seriously and ignored his efforts. Not going down without a fight, ITV and Limehouse pictures have respond saying:

The Only Way Is Essex is an original concept created and developed by an award-winning team at Lime Pictures… Brian Belo’s claim against Lime and ITV is totally without foundation and will be vigorously defended. The creative team at Lime Pictures is very proud of TOWIE and the notion that it was not entirely their own work is a serious allegation which is completely refuted.

I mean we’re not taking sides but just have a look at this video of the show Totally Essex which Brian starred in. Doesn’t this look like TOWIE on a budget?

Well if Brian wants people to hear him out The Only Way is Court… Sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves.
