Professional fraudsters Behnaz and Emmanuel Scotts

Chelsea’s answer to Bonnie and Clyde, Emmanuel and Behnaz Scotts were sentenced by the Old Bailey on Tuesday for attempting to swindle £250,000 in a VAT scam.

The couple set up home in a £2 million penthouse in star studied Chelsea Harbour, west London, paid for one of their two daughters to attend a private school and were even regulars at exclusive Chanel stores across the UK. All this, and the two were claiming job seekers allowance.

In total the couple bagged a cool £40,000 a year in benefits.

44-year-old Nigerian-born Emmanuel also claimed VAT back on Chanel handbags he’d bought whilst pretending to be a rich tourist. He would then return the same bought items to other shops around the UK, allowing him to get a full refund.

The father of two now faces four years behind bars whereas his Iranian born wife Behnaz received a suspended 51-week term for transferring £74,000 in profits into her own account.

All in a hard day’s work eh?
