Magalie Bamu and Eric Bikubi were both given life sentences on Tuesday for the brutal killing of 15-year-old Kristy Bamu , who was sent to London from Paris by his parents to spend the Christmas holidays with his sister Magalie back in December 2010.

Both Magalie and Eric were convinced that Kristy was possessed with eveil demons and was actively practising Kindoki witchcraft which derives from the Democratic Republic of Congo, which lead to them beating Kristy with metal poles and torturing him with household tools including a hammer, ceramic plates pulling his ears with pliers.

Brian Altman QC, prosecuting, said:

As Kristy’s injuries became ever more severe, he even pleaded to be allowed to die… Kirsty was killed in the name of witchcraft. It is hard to believe in this day and age anyone can believe someone was practising witchcraft.

Bikubi was ordered to serve at least 30 years and Bamu who pleaded not guilty a minimum of 25 years.
