Journalist, educator and rapper Akala sat down to talk about the use of the N word ahead of the release of his new mixtape, Knowledge Is Power Vol 1.

In an interview for Reprezent Radio Akala accepts that he used the N word openly on his first mixtape and first album then, after educating himself through conversations with elders, he made the decision to stop using it. The turning point for Akala was when an elder said:

Young brother, you’re better than that

Do you think we have to stop supporting artists who use the N word? Or can we reclaim it?
