D’banj has officially made it. Not only has the Naija boy copped himself a UK top ten hit with Oliver Twist but he’s also made it on television news show London Tonight.

The former security guard-turned-afrobeat star was interviewed by London Tonight’s entertainment correspondent Lucrezia Millarini and revealed how he’s very familiar with places around south east London.

A source told Pappzd:

I remember just a few years ago D’banj was sleeping on the couch of my friend’s place in Thamesmead. Now look at him, he’s a megastar!

His growing success was evident, yesterday, when he made a surprise visit to south east London girls’ school, Plumstead Manor. D’Banj’s debut single playing in the background was completely drowned out by the sound of the girls screaming!

D’banj, who is signed by Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music label, performed in London just last year.

See below for the London Tonight interview with D’banj and also, when D’banj surprised Plumstead Manor Girls’ School with a visit.

(Note how he switches suddenly from a Naija accent to an “Affrerican” accent! LOL!)
