This 18-year-old, who literally popped out of nowhere, has gone on to qualify for the 100m race in London 2012.

Adam Gemili secured his place in Team GB after coming second at the 100m final at the Aviva UK Athletics Olympic trials in Birmingham today.

Currently the second fastest man in Europe, Gemili could potentially run against Usain Bolt but that’s if he decides to take up his place! Don’t see why he wouldn’t?!

Dwain Chambers has been the favourite to qualify and although he won today’s race, he still hasn’t reached that magic time of 10:18 seconds this year, unlike our star boy here who ran 10:08 earlier this month in Germany.

But Chambers has until 1st July to do so if he wants to be part of Team GB for London 2012. Better get a move on mate!

Gemili said:

I can’t believe it, I don’t know what to say.

Now I have run the standard and finished in the top two, I will speak to my coach about what to do next.

The former semi-pro footballer’s mum simply said on Twitter:

After winning the race in a state of euphoria, Chambers swore live on national tv! After crossing the line he said “Fuck off!” to BBC cameras.

Alright, pipe down mate! You’re not Team GB yet!
