David Beckham has said that he would support a fellow team mates decision to leave the pitch if they were being racially abused during the Euro 2012 Championships which kick off this weekend.
When asked if he would leave the pitch alongside a player, Beckham replied “without a doubt”
However, the former England Captain also said
If he stayed on the field and played that’s a bigger message for me because then people like that [racists] don’t win
Beckham said that he wouldn’t be worried to take his children to a football game in Ukraine and Poland and emphasised the need for racism to stop worldwide. Last time we looked there weren’t any black people in Beckham’s family, so no real threat for him there.
However, we respect David’s position on this serious issue.
