This year, Central Africa will touch down in the Camden Centre in London to celebrate what is said to be the biggest Congolese cultural events of the year: Congo’s 52nd year of Independence and Miss Congo UK.

Congolese born comedian Eddie Kadi will play host on the night of live music and performances as well as leading the search to find the UK’s finest cheri in the official Miss Congo UK 2012 beauty pageant in aid of charity.

Special guests include: The ‘Big Dawg’ himself 1Xtra DJ Tim Westwood, former Blackpool F.C footballer Tresor LuaLua, TV presenter Vanessa Mulangala, boxer Ted Bami and many more. It’s also rumoured that the pageant make up will be done by Internet sensation and makeup artist Jenny Jenkins.

In an interview with Disk Jockey Entertainment, Eddie who will be hosting the event on 30 June for the third time, explained what he wanted the night to bring:

I think it’s time everyone got together and really backed our county at these hard times, it’s time to celebrate and not just look at the negativities and actually celebrate the culture, we are Congolese and we are proud
