The cast of new British drama Fast Girls traded in their tracksuits for red carpet dresses at the premiere of the new film, which took place yesterday at Leicester Square’s Odeon cinema.
The new urban film, which was co-written by and stars Noel Clarke, follows a female sprint relay team as they attempt to qualify for a world championship.
Let’s take a look at how the cast transformed themselves from sweaty Bettys to stunning starlets as they strutted down the somewhat unique red carpet, and who earned our gold, silver and bronze fashion medals.
The best outfits on the night…
Dominique Tipper who plays Sarah and appeared briefly in Adulthood, stole the limelight on the red carpet in this sassy peach dress which complimented her figure and featured a daringly low neckline. Tipper’s edgy hair makes her stand out from the other actresses and her simple make up and jewellery add to the alluring look.
Lenora Crichlow, who plays lead character Shania and has starred in Sugar Rush, Being Human and Wilderness also stole our hearts on the red carpet in this floor length dress which is pretty much as far as you can get from running gear. The leading lady exudes an air of hollywood glamour with a swept updo and elegant jewellery.
The outfits that caught our eye…
Hannah Frankson who plays Rachel definitely made herself known on the red carpet in this modern twist on the classic floor length gown. The actress manages to show off her toned legs while keeping it elegant in this ethereal gown with studded corset detailing. By accessorising with black heeled sandals, gold statement jewllery and the smallest handbag we’ve ever seen, Hannah brings the look right into the 21st Century.
Lashana Lynch who plays Belle and also appeared on The Bill in 2007, definitely knows what works for her. She looks radiant as she poses with confidence and ease in a pair of black bow detailed platform shoes and a sequinned shift dress. By pulling in the dress with a contrasting gold belt, Lashana draws attention to her slim waist and makes sure the dress doesn’t overpower her slim frame.
The outfits that didn’t make it out of the starting blocks…
Dame Kelly Holmes, who has a cameo in the film, made her way down the red carpet in this strange contraption, which seems to be a basic, grey dress with a more than a generous helping of ruffled tulle added to make an impact. The Dame’s slender frame would have been much better suited to a floor length gown with wide straps to mask her well worked out shoulders, but she still looks stunning as always with that huge grin and flawless skin.
Lorraine Burroughs who plays Trix and has featured in Doctor Who, Spooks and Law and Order UK among other TV series and theater productions, should really know a thing or two about dressing up. We have to admit this isn’t exactly a fashion disaster, but we do feel as though she let the team down with this garish gold dress and red accessories. The neckline seems to choke the petite actress and the boxy shape doesn’t do a lot for her figure.
Now it’s over to you guys, who do you think looked the best at the premiere?
