In your face Roy Hodgson!

He may have been left out of the England squad for Euro 2012, but Rio Ferdinand has no time to sit around and mope about it. The former England Captain is set to be a judge on new ITV talent show Let’s Get Gold which is basically like X Factor for athletes.

Let’s Get Gold features 15 sports teams competing to entertain the panel with a routine which also shows off their sporting skills. The winning team will collect a prize of £100,000.

Ferdinand said:

I can’t wait to get started on the judging panel of Let’s Get Gold. It’s set to be a fantastic show, capturing the nation’s sporting mood perfectly.

Other confirmed judges of the show are Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff, Martine McCutcheon and The Saturday’s Una Healy. Though unless McCutcheon was a gymnast or runner in her past life, we aren’t exactly sure why she’s been picked to judge. I mean Healy was a champion swimmer in Ireland as a child, but every reality show needs a former Soap star right?

Let’s Get Gold will air next month and run for three consecutive nights.
