You would have thought that Dereck Chisora would’ve decided to pack his bags, change his name and flee the country after losing against David Haye in the Upton Park grudge fight we saw on 14 July. But Chisora has picked himself up and taken his defeat like a man by donating £20,000 to David Haye’s chosen charity, the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust.
Chisora made the 20K bet prior to the fight, promising to hand over the cash if he was defeated by the former WBA heavyweight. In a statement, Chisora said:
I’m a man of my word, I’m happy the £20,000 donation will make a difference to the life-saving work the ACLT carry out.
Co-founder of ACLT Orin Lewis said after receiving Chisora’s cheque:
We are delighted to accept this cheque of £20,000 from Dereck Chisora on behalf of the pre match bet between him and opponent David Haye. We’re sincerely grateful to them both.
Like many celebrity couples, Haye and Chisora’s love-hate relationship has clearly paid off. We’ll just sit here and wait for the wedding invites. *sips tea*
