After the fatal stabbing last Friday afternoon at Stratford shopping centre Westfield, nine men have been arrested over the death of 24-year-old Liam Woodwards.

In Addition to the three men arrested on Friday after a fight broke out leading to the stabbing, another six were arrested over the weekend and have all been charged with violent disorder as they await dates to appear before magistrates.

Michael Alvaranga, 23, of Leytonstone; and Javin Righbie, 22, of Stratford, are due to appear before Barkingside Magistrates.

Michael Ndefo, 21, Rhys Regisford, 20, and Emmanuel Oloyede, 19, all from Plaistow, Jason Vaughan, 24, Tony Caton, 21, and Danny Caton, 23, all of Stratford, and Jerome McLeish, 20, of Victoria Docks are due before Thames Magistrates’ Court

Liam Woodwards was a resident of Stratford. The fight between what was described as a ‘large group of boys’ took place minutes away from the entrance of the Olympic Park which will see thousands of Olympic fans passing through it’s door’s in a matter of weeks.

Two other men suffered minor injuries in the fight.
