Being a big brother may sometimes mean that you have to step in when your younger sibling gets into a spot of bother. But when sticking up for him comes back to bite you in the arse, you’re left to think that maybe you should’ve let things be.
Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand called footballer Ashley Cole, a ‘choc ice’ after he appeared in court to defend John Terry in his racism trial against Anton Ferdinand. The tweet, which was in response to a comment one of his followers made, quickly touched a few nerves on the social networking site where people were quick to call Ferdinand a hypocrite claiming that his comment about Ashley was racist.
The term choc ice is a slang term to describe a black person who is believed to have denied their black ethnicity.
Yesterday Rio Took to Twitter to defend himself, explaining that his comment was not racist.
What I said yesterday is not a racist term. Its a type of slang/term used by many for someone who is being fake. So there.

Despite the backlash on Twitter, Ashley chose not to take the comment too seriously. Cole’s representatives issued a statement:
Ashley Cole wishes to make it clear that he and Rio Ferdinand are good friends and [he] has no intention of making any sort of complaint… Ashley appreciates that Tweeting is so quick it often results in offhand and stray comments.
For some reason I don’t think that this will be the last of Terry gate. Can you imagine being stuck in a lift with John, Ashley, Anton and Rio… Awkward.com.
