Olympic champion Mo Farah is celebrating becoming a dad, after his wife Tania gave birth to twin girls on Friday.
And he’s so delighted with his new arrivals that he has revealed that he will be inscribing their names on to his Olympic gold medals.
Mo came first in both the men’s 10, 000m and 5, 000m at the London 2012 Olympic Games and says that once he and his wife have decided on names for their baby girls, one will be inscribed on each gold medal.
Tania gave birth just 48 hours before Mo was due to compete in the Aviva Birmingham Grand Prix race on Saturday, but the athlete still made it to his wife’s bedside to see his daughters arrive into the world.
However, his commitment to his sport didn’t falter and when asked if he would be hanging around in London to be with his family, he replied:
No, no, no. I’ve got a race tomorrow, haven’t I?
Mo, who is also a stepfather to Tania’s daughter Rihanna, described the arrival as ‘very exciting’ and shared his joy with Twitter later that day:
Great news about the birth of my little baby girls! Twins…! Thanks to my wife..!! Shabba!!

Many of you might have seen his wife looking heavily pregnant as she ran onto the tracks after Mo won gold for Team GB and now the proud parents couldn’t be happier. Two gold medals and two new baby girls, what more could you ask for?
