Actor Ashley Walters has revealed that the second series of Top Boy will feature many of the original stars, including Kano, and the story continues from series one.

However, despite our prying (and fluttering eyelashes) he was careful not to give too much away.

Speaking at the MOBO nominations in central London on Monday night, the 30-year-old actor told Pappzd Magazine:

We start shooting in December, so middle of next year that will be out on TV screens. A lot of the main cast are still in it. It’s a good piece.

All I can say is that it’s a very big progression. It’s a year after where we left the last episode and there’s a huge investigation about all the stuff that happened. That’s all I can say.

But Ashley hasn’t just been sitting around waiting for the director’s call for Top Boy 2, as he explained that there are a number of other projects in the pipeline.

Not only is the So Solid Crew star appearing in an episode of Doctor Who next year, he is also cooking up something big with Noel Clarke and has directed his own pilot for a new TV show.

I’ve got a real big project with Noel Clarke… which we start shooting at the end of the year.

I just finished directing something on my own as well. It’s a pilot for a TV show, which we’re pitching to TV channels at the moment and we’re going to put it out as a short film.

It’s called The Charlatans. If I could put it in a nutshell, it’s a mixture between Entourage and Hustle. Everyone was sad with the loss of Hustle as a TV show… so we’ve kind of done a similar concept, but with a group of kids. It’s a really funny comedy drama.

With his acting career flourishing, maybe Ashley could help out MC Harvey and cast him in one of these projects. God knows he needs some good publicity and after all the reality TV programmes he’s been on, he’s definitely not camera shy.

Just don’t give him too many drinks on set. We don’t want a repeat of the arse cheeks incident on Celebrity Big Brother.
