It’s been a staggering five years since Craig David put forward a body of original material. However, the 31-year-old is back to work and in the studio with top UK producer Anthony Marshall.
Anthony is responsible for crafting some of Craig’s biggest hits, including co-producing half of his second studio album, Slicker Than Your Average and its lead single, What’s Your Flava? back in 2002.
The above images show Craig and Anthony hard at work in the studio, while Craig sported his signature d0-rag which he became well-known for in the early 2000’s. He then posted the following image on Twitter:
An excited Craig continued to release his excitement about the album, tweeting:

The album is set for release in 2013 and will be accompanied by a world tour, as previously confirmed by the singer himself.
It will be really interesting to see if Craig will make a big comeback in an industry that is usually, very age-biased and ever-changing in terms of audiences and sounds.
Interestingly enough, Craig’s Born To Do It album sold over eight million copies worldwide, making it one of the biggest UK R&B albums ever. It was also ranked by MTV viewers as their second favourite album of all-time behind Michael Jackson’s Thriller, so the pressure and expectations are certainly high.
As he’s no longer the ‘It boy’ or as young as he once was, do you feel Craig stands a fair chance in today’s music market?
Lets hope he can craft some R&B gems like he once did and not take the easy route and go overly commercial!
