Somerset House hosted London Fashion Week’s sister event, London Fashion Weekend last week between Thursday and Sunday.
The fashion event was held in the same arena as London Fashion Week but with fewer catwalk shows. There were stalls offering discounts of up to 70% on designer clothing and accessories, and it had a much more relaxed atmosphere.
Lexi, aged 22, who was also invited to London Fashion Week, said:
I’m really enjoying this, it’s cool. I didn’t expect loads of rooms with loads of designers. It’s turned out to be a lot cooler than I thought it was going to be.
Another attendee also said:
I went to London Fashion Week to see the Topshop show. It’s different here because you can shop, go to fashion shows. It’s all under one roof, kind of like a massive mall and more relaxed.
Compared to London Fashion Week, which Pappzd also visited, there were less fashionistas and more families – as we even saw a woman with two small children wandering around the discounted designer stalls.
We went on the Saturday and Sunday, where the main designer catwalks were Alice by Temperley and Twenty8Twelve. As well as that, there were Trend Catwalk Shows which showcased the latest fashion trends of A/W 2012.
There was even a charity auction for Save The Children in one of the rooms and a spokeswoman from the charity said:
We have pieces that have been donated from published designers, we’ve even got pieces from Alexander McQueen.
What we want people to do is actually go online onto our eBay account and bid for the pieces… All the proceeds go to charity.
The catwalk we attended was Twenty8Twelve hosted by Zoe Hardman, presenter of E4’s Playing It Straight and ITV2’s Take Me Out: The Gossip.
Pappzd’s favourite models Leomie Anderson and boyfriend Harry Uzoka were also two of the models featured in the show.
