The Saturdays have just revealed gigantic plans, to take the US by storm.

The girl group, which features Rochelle Wiseman, took to Twitter to reveal plans on inking a deal with Island Def Jam and Mercury Records and plans to star in a reality show.

The excited group tweeted:

While, details on the release are still in the early stages it is believed they plan to release a single in early 2013 and will be working with US producers Diane Warren and Rodney Jerkins, better known as Darkchild.

The Saturdays also plan on getting into reality TV, as a form of introduction to gain an American following, though nothing is set in stone just yet.

Newly-wed Rochelle Humes née Wiseman, who recently married Marvin Humes of JLS said:

At the minute, we’re here just to record an album and shoot the music video for the single. We haven’t agreed to anything just yet, but it’s an idea that will probably happen.

As for the direction of the album, the group have said:

We’re all so different anyway and have such different tastes in music so when we do a different genre of song it feels at least natural.

That’s really great news for the girls. However, I wonder if this was in a bid to separate themselves from newer competition, seeing as new group Little Mix are hot on their tails. They are obviously taking advantage of the massive success of boy band One Direction and hoping to catch waves in their slipstream.

I think a TV show is a good way for people to get to know them, it would be awful for them to randomly turn up in the US and feel like the new kid sitting alone at the lunch table.

Previous UK acts have had to totally transform their images and styles in attempt to appeal to the US audience and let’s hope the Saturdays don’t go too far and rename themselves The Saddurdays! (That’s an American accent by the way)

We wish them the best of luck, and hope they won’t be back on Monday!
