Tut tut, Ashley Cole’s tweet about the FA has got him in to a whole lot of trouble.
The Chelsea and England footballer called the FA a ‘bunch of twats’ recently after the FA questioned his statement in the whole John Terry/Anton Ferdinand fiasco.
He quickly deleted the tweet when he realised it probably wasn’t a very smart idea. It was too late though, the damage had been done, and Mr Cole has been charged by the FA. A statement they released says
Chelsea FC’s Ashley Cole has been charged by The FA in relation to a Twitter comment which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute.
Ashley also released his own statement saying
I had just finished training and saw the captions on the TV screens in the treatment rooms about what was said in the FA Commission ruling about me. I was really upset and tweeted my feelings in the heat of the moment. I apologise unreservedly for my comment about the FA.
Bit too late for apologies though Ashley. Might be good idea to think before you tweet?
It will be interesting to see how much he gets fined, and if a ban follows the fine too, especially with people being outraged by how lightly John Terry got off with the racism accusations.
If Ashley’s punishment is greater, I’m sure there will be a lot of angry tweeters in the next week or so.
