In what has to be the best feel-good story of all time, Fabrice Muamba married his fiance Shauna Magunda just seven months after he collapsed on the pitch and was clinically dead for 78 minutes.

It was an emotional ceremony watched by Premiere League players such as Robin Van Persie and Jason Roberts.

The couple met in 2006 when Fabrice was on loan at Birmingham FC and Shauna was studying for her Masters in Media Enterprise at Birmingham City University. They have been together ever since, and have a three-year-old son, Joshua who was page boy at the wedding.

The night before the big day, although he has retired, Fab went back to his roots:

Not the typical night then for someone who’s getting married the next day.

Fabrice told Hello magazine

Although this year has been a difficult one but, to me, marriage is the happy ending.

He didn’t get cold feet as the next day he was back on Twitter saying how happy was:

We’re glad you’re happy Fab and are able to spend Christmas with your family, happily married.

Former Arsenal star Thierry Henry took a break from duties at New York Redbulls to be Fabrice’s best man at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire (Henry also flew in to be by Fabrice’s bedside when he was in hospital).

However, the guest of honour at the wedding was Dr Andrew Deaner, the cardiologist who ran onto the pitch at White Hart Lane and saved the midfielder’s life.

Other members of the medical team who saved his life were also present at the fairytale wedding where they dined on curried goat and jerk chicken.

Big love to the Muamba’s!
