On Friday 26 and Saturday 27 October the Pappzd team ventured across the Thames to Battersea Power Station where the Freeze Festival was in full swing.

The two days were a mash up of skiers and snowboarders battling it out for cash prizes and music from hip-hop legends adding to the festival vibe.

The only obstacle standing in the way of having a great time was the weather. It was ice cold and even the skiers in their snow gear struggled.

But then again it was only living up to the name: Freeze Fest!

Desperado Factory

Headlining on Friday was DJ Shaddow on the Main Stage and Ms Dynamite-tee-hee giving it large in the Desperado Factory. But the main event was on Saturday with Grandmaster Flash and being the one performance everyone was waiting to see, Public Enemy did not disappoint.

Yeah Boy!

As always Flavor Flav wore his infamous clock around his neck, giving the crowd what they wanted and surprisingly the old boys didn’t stop jumping!

Seriously, they have more energy than a child on blue smarties.

In preparation to the performances later on in the evening, we decided to watch a few competitions between the skiers and snowboarders, with Brit Billy Morgan, 22, taking home the £5,000 first place prize on Saturday.

But is mixing extreme sports with music a good combination? Here is what Ian from London had to say:

I think it’s the best combination. I love snowboarding and I love music

So yes, mixing extreme sports with music does work and from personal experience it definitely brought a range of people to the festival.

The crowd was a mix of extreme sport fanatics, old skool hip-hop enthusiasts and the everyday fun loving festival fans in their very scary fancy dress.
