The Screen Nation Film and TV Nominations switched things up from the usual style by announcing their nominees for the upcoming awards through a Google Hangout.

Left to Right: Jimmy Akingbola, Shanika Warren-Markland and comedian Eddie Kadi

Shanika Warren-Markland (Adulthood & 4,3,2,1), Jimmy Akingbola (Holby City) and comedian Eddie Kadi joined forces in a video live stream to reveal this year’s nominations for the most prestigious awards ceremony recognising black film and television stars.

Naturally we were proud to hear a lot of UK urban names up for an award including Holby City’s Michelle Asante, Eastenders: E20’s Modupe Adeyeye, and Aml Ameen.

You can visit the Screen Nation Awards website for the full list of nominees and honorary winners and to vote in selected categories.

The awards will be hosted by Wil Johnson (Waking the Dead) and Radio 1Xtra’s Sarah Jane Crawford and take place on Sunday 11 November 2012 at the Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge.
