The man who killed another man after a minor row at a BlackBerry party where Jessie J was performing has been handed a life sentence at the Old Bailey today.
Ashley Charles, 26 of Leicester was found guilty of the murder of Phillip Sheriff, 37 at Pulse nightclub where a party was hosted by smartphone brand Blackberry and pop star Jessie J made a special appearance.
Charles was sentenced to life and must serve a minimum of 14 years.
Judge Paul Worsley stated Charles killed Sherriff because Charles was frustrated with Sheriff’s behaviour. It was made clear by the judge that Charles didn’t deliberately smash the bottle which killed Sheriff, or intend to kill him.
Although Ashley Charles was incredibly remorseful after the event the Judge sentenced him because he could not
let another person like you devastate another family. Your actions have devastated so many people’s lives.
Phillip Sheriff’s organs have been used to save three other lives but the Judge emphasised the lives of Sherriff’s family and young daughters have been irretrievably ruined.
