Ali Abubakar, 56, from Ghana was discovered beaten to death by his wife Hauwa Tanimu on the floor of their flat in Graham Tower, Hanbury Road, Acton on Monday.
Hauwa had just arrived home from a shift she had finished at a nearby nursing home when she found her husband lying face up in a pool of his own blood.
Distressed Hauwa panicked, banging on all her neighbours doors shouting for help.
Neighbours reacted to Hauwa pleas and called police after seeing Mr Abubakar face beaten beyond recognition with a table leg next to his body.
A post-mortem of Mr Abubakar’s body was carried out today, clarifying his identity.
Neighbours told police that a younger man had been staying with the couple for a few days and that they saw him with Mr Abubakar hours before he died.
According to the Evening Standard a 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at a west London police station.
The investigation continues.
