A 17-year-old Eastenders star who is accused of raping a 14-year-old boy appeared for the first day of his trial at the North London Youth Court earlier today.

However, he was immediately told off by District Judge John Perkins for chewing gum.

If you are chewing something, please remove it from your mouth

How disrespectful is that?

After only a 15 minute hearing the judge said the case will be transferred to the crown court due to the seriousness of the alleged offences (a routine procedure).

If the Eastenders star from Sutton is found guilty he could face up to 11 years in prison for the rape charges.

The 17-year-old will return to the same court on 14 December for a committal hearing which will officially transfer the case to a crown court where it will be tried in front of a jury.

A ban on revealing the actor’s identity remains in place.

The trial continues.
