X Factor finished this weekend, James Arthur won and that was all good. But as usual, we couldn’t help but pay close attention to the fashion choices made on the show, that’s a fun part of X Factor isn’t it?
Let’s start with the judges. On Saturday, Nicole opted for a red sparkly full length gown by Zuhair Murad which made me feel all Christmassy inside, and looked gorgeous.
Tulisa on the other hand didn’t wow me with her custom made Suzanne Neville dress. It was harsh and edgy and with it she wore chunky block heeled sandals, it wasn’t terrible and it definitely wasn’t her worst outfit choice this series, but I just wasn’t impressed.
One of the performers on Saturday night was Rita Ora, and she embraced 80’s Hip Hop fashion with her Salt-n-Pepa inspired multicoloured bomber jacket and baggy jumpsuit.
Her short hairstyle was a welcome change and I for one loved the jacket – maybe because it reminded me of the Push It video – but the rest of the outfit, namely the jumpsuit… Ugh. It was badly fitted (is it me or was the top really, really tight?) and made her look like she was shaped like a bag. No.
Now, on Sunday’s show, both judges were very close when it comes to who looked better. I actually don’t think I can call it. Nicole mixed elegant with funky wearing a Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture dress with a fishtail skirt and gold metal panelling at the bust and sporting a sleek ponytail.
Tulisa looked probably the best that she’s looked the whole series (hurrah!) as she wore a dazzling strapless floor length dress by Hollie de Keyser and wore her hair in side swept waves.
Performers on the night included Emeli Sande who didn’t stray too far from her usual classy and mature style as she wore a fitted black dress with a cut-out detail on the chest, showing a peek of her tattoo. Nothing unusual or particularly interesting, but she stuck to what she knew suited her.
Rihanna, performed in something unique and fashion forward as usual. She wore a white cut-out dress by Alexander Wang and t-bar sandals, with her sandal straps going all the way up to her knees.
Overall, my winners have to be Nicole on Saturday and Sunday, Tulisa on Sunday and Rihanna.
And my losers? Tulisa on Saturday, Rita Ora and sorry, but, Emeli Sande – boring just doesn’t excite me!. #sorrynotsorry
