Sudanese model Alek Wek and London-born Dudley O’Shaughnessy (who starred in Rihanna’s We Found Love) have been featured in the latest campaign by clothing line United Colors of Benetton.
The brand known for its ads which deal with social and political issues, has featured a mixture of models from all over the globe in its latest campaign. The campaign follows the theme of ‘COLOR’ and is focused on showcasing models not only have direct links with charities, but who have unique quirks which instead of hindering their modelling careers, have actually set them apart from the rest.
Alek Wek’s quirk is the fact that she was a refugee, whereas Dudley O’Shaughnessy is a boxer. It also features transgender Brazilian model Lea T, Muslim-Arabic model Hanaa Ben Abdesslem and Mario Galla who has a prosthetic leg.
The campaign also works in line with Benetton’s UNHATE foundation with a limited range of t shirts being sold with proceeds going towards the foundation.
