We recently reported that Apple may launch a 128GB version of the iPad. Those rumours have now been confirmed as Apple made an official announcement.

The iPad hasn’t changed visually, but it now has double the storage capacity of the top spec model. It will go on sale from Tuesday 5 February and cost a whopping £639 for the Wi-Fi only model and £739 for the Wi-Fi and 4G version. The prices may seem high, but that’s unlikely to put off the masses of Apple fans around the world.

Apple has already sold over 100 million iPads since the first one was launched back in April 2010. Not bad for a product many people thought there wasn’t a market for.
