The hugely popular Whatsapp messenger is the latest social networking app to intrude on our privacy. They have been storing all our contacts’ numbers on their servers in California.

This security breach came to light after an investigation by the Canadian and Dutch watchdogs, which had been looking into this for the past year. They concluded that Whatsapp violates ‘internationally accepted privacy principles’.

Whatsapp have encrypted the numbers for security, but any hackers who get hold of this info would easily be able to get past that.

With over 300 million users on Whatsapp, there is real cause for concern. No official comment has come from the company, but rest assured we will be watching this story very closely.
