Audi has released pictures and details of the Hybrid A3 ahead of the Geneva motor show.
Even though its still classed as a concept by Audi, they are already planning to extend it to all their ranges, so in the nearest future expect a Hybrid Q7.
The Hybrid A3 gets its power from a combination of a 1.4litre TSFI engine and an electric motor. Collectively they give out 201bhp and 350Nm of torque respectively.
With figures like this, the e-tron A3 is easily the most powerful model in the line-up.
A six speed ‘e-S tronic’ gearbox delivers to the front wheels, letting this little bugger get to 62mph in just 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 138mph.
Being a hybrid, there are bound to be batteries somewhere in the car therefore adding extra weight to it; so even though it’s the most powerful A3 in the lineup, it’s still half a second slower than a normal 1.8litre A3.
The A3 e-tron definitely stands out for its efficiency. Audi boasts that the A3 e-tron is capable of 188.3mpg and emits just 35g/km of CO2.
Three different driving modes can be selected: the driver can chose to use the electric motor alone, the engine alone or the combination of the two.
In electric only mode, the e-tron can be driven at speeds of up to 81mph and does 31 miles before the batteries run out.
A production version of the A3 e-tron is due late next year.
