Despite reports coming out over the weekend that Naomi Oni’s acid attack was self-inflicted, it has since been revealed that a man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of the incident.

On Friday, a 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with a 28-year-old man being taken in on Sunday on the same charges.

Both have been bailed since with further inquiries due to take place, Police have also stated that they would like to speak to a potential witness seen getting off the 368 bus in Barking five minutes after Naomi did on the night of the attack.

Speaking about the accusations of her acid burns being self-inflicted, Naomi has said that she was “hurt and angry” telling the Evening Standard:

I’ve only just come out of hospital after having surgery on my eye. To see this story saying that I’d done it made me so angry and really hurts.

Suspicions were raised by police who found searches on acid attacks on Naomi’s laptop when it was taken in for investigation.

There’s no way I would have done this to myself. I want the person who did this to be caught.

The investigation continues.
