With his first single Grenande listed as one of the Singles Of The Week by the Metro, 21-year-old Londoner Bobii Lewis has released the video to his latest track Cut Me Some Slack. The video features clothing from late designer Billy Boyce aka Shaun Akanbi, and has been dedicated to 26-year-old Shaun who was stabbed in December last year.
In his music career, Bobii has gained recognition from music mogul Simon Cowell and was even headhunted by his X Factor co-mentor Sinitta; as well as being named as One To Watch by ex-Radio One presenter Reggie Yates.
Bobii’s musical talents are not limited to RnB alone, as the versatile singer whose inspirations are drawn from Reggae, rock and RnB performed his certain to be a hit Afrobeats song Sweet Girl at this month’s 56th Ghana Independence celebrations at the Indigo2. And in February this year, he was invited by the Jamaican High Commission to perform for Bob Marley’s 68th Birthday event at the Jamaican High Commission Building in front of selected guests.
Talking about his latest single, Bobii told the Independent:
I grew up in a house that listened to Motown, which later progressed to R&B. But when I get on stage and perform Cut Me Some Slack the audience just don’t expect it from me.
