One of the two men given a life sentence for the murder of Stephen Lawrence has dropped his appeal against the murder conviction.
37-year-old Gary Dobson has decided to retract his appeal against the conviction whilst David Norris, 36, is going ahead with his.
Both men had their applications for permission to appeal rejected by a judge last year, but they still had the rights to renew their applications.
A spokeswoman for the Judicial Office stated:
Gary Dobson has abandoned his renewed application to appeal his conviction for the murder of Stephen Lawrence.
David Norris’s renewed application seeking permission to appeal his conviction will be heard on a date to be fixed.
Dobson is currently serving a minimum of 15 years and four months for the murder whilst Norris is serving 14 years and three months. A date for Norris’ appeal at the Court of Appeal in London is yet to be set.
