During his one-off Mastercard Priceless gig yesterday in London, Ne-Yo surprised his audience by signing British singer Sonna Rele in front of them.

Talking about Sonna, who Ne-Yo came across on Facebook, the Let Me Love You singer told Digital Spy:

I’m really excited about it. She’s an incredible talent and I didn’t want to make the mistake I’ve made before of letting an incredible artist slip through my fingers.

I’m not making that mistake with this one. It definitely wasn’t something I was expecting to do – even my team were surprised by the whole thing as it was very sudden.

She’s a songwriter and plays piano and guitar. I’m going to take her under my wing, give her the input I can and see what happens.

British-Asian Sonna, from Kingsbury in north west London, was clearly taken aback by the surprise signing on the night saying:
I knew Ne-Yo was intrigued by the music as we’ve been talking for a while, but I had no idea that I would get signed like this – in front of such a receptive audience. I am over the moon!
The signing makes the soulful singer Ne-Yo’s first international artist to his Compound Entertainment record label.
