Angel strums guitar Under the Bridge during his About Time album launch

Pappzd Magazine headed down to the cool London spot Under the Bridge. Waiting in anticipation for wonder-boy Angel to grace the stage, he delivered some fresh tracks from his brand new debut album About Time.

The Album name follows a noticeable time theme reflecting on his journey and his mix tapes such as Any Minute Now and 7 Minutes Before Time. Seems as though good things are always yet to come and quite rightly this album is a testimony to that.

Angel is the mastermind behind smash hits such as Green Light, by roll deep and Wretch 32’s Black and White. He is renowned for his ability to put pen to paper and co-write as well as his spectacular pop-soul vocals.

The 25-year-old singer/ songwriter proved to us that he was not just a feature singer or a co-writer in fact it was a day to prove his glorious transition from an under the radar Rn B singer to someone who is earmarked to have great commercial success…

The ‘Wonderful’ singer gave us an energised rendition of tracks including his current dance single The World. This track rocketed to number 12 on the official Dance charts and has been a non-mover. Its deep vocal messages and tragic video are effectively juxtaposed with an up tempo backing track, which makes it a tad more light-hearted.

Fans were prompted to scream out the lyrics as soon as the sing-along chorus kicked in.
Females in the audience were swooned by the more affectionate songs including Time After Time and Rocket Love, which was written by musical prodigy, Frank Ocean and has an impressive intro featuring the much-loved George the Poet.

The singer who is signed to Island records, gave them a big shout-out, and the continuously thanked his fans and family which was very humbling. Multi-coloured lights flashed upon the stage and the sounds of Angels live band (who were clad in monochrome tee’s) bounced off the walls in of the basement.

The finale was an energised performance of Angels euphoric hit single Wonderful which is undoubtedly faultless. The performance proved why the catchy tune deserved its Top 10 status!

This night made us all proud. We needn’t look any further as what we have been missing is finally here- and well worth the wait!
